Maruti RIII MPV

Maruti's new kid - Ritz based RIII MPV
Maruti showcased a concept MPV during the 2010 Auto Expo and that is now finally taking shape. In fact it's almost ready for launch as seen in these pictures. The RIII MPV is based on the Ritz platform which was developed from the last generation Swift. The vehicle uses this trusted and tested platform albeit in an extended version to match the larger proportions of a MPV.
The vehicle sports three rows of seating which should make it a seven seater with spacious interiors. The top of the line ZDI/ZXI models will sport dual tone interiors and may be upto 6 airbags. Under the hood is expected the same 1.3 litre diesel work horse developed by Fiat, which has been doing service in a long list of vehicles since its debut. The engine will be in its higher state of tune as seen in the SX4 developing 90PS of peak power. Apart from the oil burner, a new 1.4 litre VVT K-series gasoline engine will also be made available and we believe Maruti will later also offer a CNG variant to the petrol mill. The new car can be expected to hit the streets by this festive season or at the 2012 Auto Expo that will be held in January 2012 in New Delhi.
The vehicle is currently named RIII and bearing the Maruti name means it will offer reliability, low maintenance costs and amazing fuel economy. This will also be Maruti's first step in the luxury MPV market and should give good competition to the likes of the Mahindra Xylo.
