Peugeot 207 caught testing!
The French auto maker Peugeot, had a brief visit to India in the 90's when PAL-Peugeot manufactured the 309, a small family sedan. The manufacturing seized in 1997 and that was the end of Peugeot's innings in India. The vehicle featured a robust diesel engine and was a tough vehicle overall. But the
game spoiler was its sales and service which was poor, owing to PAL's poor service network.
However looking at the current boom in the automotive sector Peugeot is planning to re-enter the market soon. And the vehicle Peugeot has chosen for this invasion is the 207 hatchback.
Internationally the 207 is offered with a range of engine options, expect the petrol as well as the diesel version at the launch. Though details are not clear, 1.4 litre petrol and diesel option may be the ones likely to come to India.
The vehicle was launched in 2006 in France, Spain and Italy and later on in other European, Israeli and Arabic markets. The Indian launch is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2012.
