Pros: Understated Elegance & Class, In Cabin Features - Fit & Finish, Blue & Me Tech on the Emotion Models
Cons: Slightly Underpowered - Diesel, FIAT India's sales, service track record
Linea - which translates into Line in English, is FIAT India's latest offering for a market in quite a while. While everything that can go wrong has gone wrong for FIAT until date... this might just be the car that brings back everything in line (pun unintended:)) for Fiat.
About the car, well one look at it on the rear page of this months economic times had my heart fluttering, the Maroon car on the page ( I learnt later that its - Flamenco Red & not Maroon ) looked sleek, Upmarket, Expensive and LOOOONGGGG...
Well, so I set off to test drive it and find out just how long it was, and shiver me timbers - the Linea is longer than the Innova... yes the Toyota Innova. It was unbelievable.
The Linea comes with 2 mills, one the FIRE Petrol & the Multijet Diesel... the last time FIAT stickered a car with FIRE(Fully Integrated Robotized Engine, for the uninitiated) on it was the record breaking UNO.
And each mill comes in 3 variants - Active, Dynamic & Emotion, with the latter 2 coming with additional packages.
Since I test drove only the top end FIAT Linea Emotion Pack Diesel, I have been over the world, if there was one car I intended to buy @ less than 10 lakhs, I would choose only the Linea... think about it ABS, Airbags, Blue & Me, 15 feet of car, 500lts boot, all the frills and fancies of a premium segment car like - rear A/C, Rear Seat handrest, the FANCY MY CAR 1 & MY CAR 2 package are awesome.
Diesel mill of 90bhp and you have a car which can compete with the CIVIC for a CITY price, and its DIESEL !!!!
I cant think about a car which offers soo much for only 9.6Lakhs.
The claimed Fuel efficiency by the Company is 16kmpl for the 1.3 Multijet diesel - wonderful for a car this size.
Though it is longer than the CIVIC, the Linea has a much shorter wheelbase than it, so it should be a breeze over most BAD roads.
To end this review all I can say is - with the Linea you have a diesel car with the features and size of a CIVIC at the cost of a CITY !!!
The competition Linea has been drawn, and FIAT have got a winner in their stable !!!

| Talking about Linea being under powered compared to verna is non-sense.
Whats the use of the power in a car with handling and braking of no comparision to Fiesta and Linea...
Diesel cars can only be tested in long run on highways...Verna fails miserably |

| I have test-driven both the Petrol and Diesel versions. Petrol is slow to pick up in the first two gears, but the engine does not turn off even when you are in the 5th gear at 10km/hr. It's true - I've tried it!
I am concerned about the TATA service and the first two gears. Otherwise, it's so sturdy, it took me 4 attempts to close the driver's door! A QUALITY car from Fiat. |

| but opel corsa 1.6 has the best idler of all...we dont need to press the throttle to reach speed of 40km/hr..the clutch manages to do it all alone |

| Its the best car in this segment. what else can one expect with this wonderful package. service poor is just a thing of past. go personally and experience and then comment. service is definately improved. i own it since feb. 2009 and till date no prob. with 2000 kms ran. its just new but still i bet no prob even after it goes old. people just admire and ask about the performance. after all its my dream car. |

| I drove both the top end versions - Petrol & Diesel.
The features are great ...that makes me inclined to buy.
But after the test drive of both, i was so disappointed. Man it makes me sad that I cant buy this car.
..its meant for the heart and not the head...
DIESEl:
I regulalry drive verna crdi...honda city Zx ...(we got a big family with
all the cars from this segment). So when i compare Linea with verna ...no power .... when u compare honda city with linea petrol ..again no power.
I really wanted Linea but I am settling down with the new city though with a heavy heart but with a smarter head. |

| Nice and useful review. I have decided to buy Linea............Only worried about after sale support which is pulling me back and go for Honda city. Any thoughts on this issue? |

| man i went to fiat showroom in delhi aka tata showroom , both the varients were fantastic and value for money , the emotionpack was top of the class iam sure fiat has a winner in its hand with the backup of tatas service which is only second to maruthi in network all over india , it seems the spareparts price too is in tune with inidan price, the desiel varient is a winner all the way , guys and gals just check it before buying anyother car in its class hurrey |

| Was a proud owner of Fiat's earlier car - Petra, am sure Linea would be a good car on the road. I owned Petra for 5 years and never had any problems with the car or service. I would rather say Fiat service was far better than Hyundai (I own Sonata Embera now) Just looking for a reason to sell the Sonata and get my hands on this Fiat beauty. |

| though its a good car as seem from review, but what about resale value and most important thing abt service. Tata cannot satisfy his consumers and its a fiat. |

| FIAT itself has trained TATA workers so there is no prob with aftersales and service.I own a Linea and feel pround with servicing given to me by FIAT side.U should check before anyone tell it.... |
