Pros: Great Looks, comfortable, silent engine
Cons: High maintenance, pathetic service
Chevrolet Spark is a good car, but only if you want to keep it for less than 3 years. It is comfortable, good looking, and has a silent cabin. But all this comes at a steep price.
Service/Spare part prices are exorbitant when compared to Maruti/Hyundai vehicles of similar price range. Irrespective of what is shown on website, anything not mentioned there costs a fortune. For example, pair of fog lamps with fitting costs Rs. 4500. AC Condenser costs 6000. A simple wheel alignment and balancing job will set you off by 1000 rupees.
I've driven the car for just 6500 km, but have already visited workshop 5 times for various problems in 5 months. GM believes in selling and forgetting. After sales is practically non existent, and the company is slow to do any repairs under warranty. So you will be expected to leave car with them for days for any minor repair.
Spark inherits the poor anti rusting protection from Matiz. Exhaust pipe has already started rusting in my 5 month old car, and I've observed rust in sharp under body parts. It is only a matter of time that the body paint will start bubbling.
AC of spark gives frequent problems. Comfortable inside and silent cabin features of Spark get nullified as one has to drive with windows rolled down during midday, when the AC is as good as non existent.
I pressed GM workshop (Regent Automobiles, Mathura Road) to fix various glitches (headlight bulb fusing, AC not working, central clock getting reset frequently), but was politely reminded that I was expecting too much from their lowest end car.
Before buying this car, please give me a mail, and I'll explain my horrible experience in detail to anyone willing to hear. I've spent 4 Lakhs of my hard earned cash on Spark LT model, and there are simply no buyers at even 3 lakhs, just 5 months after the purchase.

| I live in delhi and I bought a spark in september 2007, I have driven it very roughly and done around 64,000 kms. I would strongly recommend this car as the car is stil in a very good condition, still a silent drive inside the cabin, a good fuel economy. One one flaw that I had some issues during the after sales service here in faridabad. I would say that it is a very good entry level hatchback. |

| Sushanth nirmal i also agree with u. i own a spark for last 19 months and it travelled almost 16000 km. i didnt face any any problm with ma spark. and it gives 15-16 in our massive kerala roads. |

| my car age is around 3.2 years i have not faced any problems so far...
my car ran total aroudn 29,000 Kms!!
giving around 15 to 18 km/lt with ac.
i have changed the exahust pipe which was rusted one they replaced with warrantyies...car bodies so light if you tocuh ti hardly dent will appear..bu car chasis is so strong.
i met accident once reaplced damged parts. now it is still king of the samll car in india!!small is samll :) after giving 3rd service that is at 15,000 kms i have not used 4th , 5th seriveces..i will give my car for seriveces only if it is crossed 45,000 kms or 50,000kms. at every 2500kms i will check my self oil and other level stuff in my car..if brake oil or engine oil becomes very thick black color then i will change it early otherise rid it cooly |

| vipul seems to have got some defective piece. i am driving this car for 1 year/10000 kms. no problems at all with supersilent cabin and excellent road grip. Most probably he is comparing it with his BMW/AUDI/MERC. Sir the price difference is huge and so will be the features. no other car in the segment can match this car. In city driving gives me a mileage of 16 and on highways around 18. Plz note that this is a car for city driving and not for F1 racing. Plz remember that u need to polish your shoes daily for keeping it in a shiny condition. i have some very sweet experience from the very same dealer. |

| I fully disagree with this review and I feel you are an Maruti Suzuki sponsored reviewer because the Dent that Spark has made in Maruti has given shudders to the Japs , I have bought Spark Ps 2 months back and it is an awsome car with full value for money and for any problems the Chevorlet managment is very good in response so I would suggest that blindly go in for Chevorlet Spark and have 3 tension free years. |

| I am driving spark more than 1.10 Yrs. drove around 18K KM, No hassle Ac is awsome, smooth drive I have been to Delhi from Pune by spark was great exp, this car has not given me any troble for 1000 non stop driving. |

| Sorry Vipul,ur review is absolutely biased. Nobody is going to believe you. Already Spark proved as a good car. Only thing which is lacking is the number of GM service centers compared to Maruti or Hyundai. I know more than a dozen Spark owners, who are very happy with the product and service. |

| Hi Jean,My review is not biased. It's just a narrative of my experience. I don't contend that Spark is not a good car. But the attitude of Spark dealers is one of to make maximum money out of hapless customers whenever a small problem occurs with the car. And unlike Maruti/Hyundai, you cannot get these problems fixed outside. |

| Absolutely wrong informations given about spark. I am using spark for the last one year and have done nearly 16,000 kms. Absolutely a trouble free car, Cabin is silent, performance is good. Getting mileage at an average of 15-16 kms with a/c on. Moreover, the service given by the chevy dealer is also encouraging and commendable. Very happy to be a part of GM family |

I can only say that you are lucky. Wish I was as lucky as you. My speedo/odometer died about 1000 km back, and is working intermittently since then. There's simply no hearing at GM for such problems. They always insist that since car is able to run, everything is fine. |

| Hey its sad to hear i stay in mumbai n own a spark LS done 6000kms in 6 months it works like a charm its comfortable inside engine works like a charm no noises wat so ever im so happy i have owned an 800 alto santro in last 15 yrs in my joint family still i think the refinement of the spark is head n shoulders above the others my brother uses hyundai i10 i have driven it but i love my spark still it looks much better is very comfortable in town parking is no problem wat so ever |

| Well, GM is offering it because they have too much bad publicity. But the point is, a company who's reluctant to honor its warranty commitments will not honor its free maintenance commitment. I can easily imagine a scene, where the brake shoes of a GM car have worn out after 2 years, and service workshop is insisting that brake shoes don't need replacement because brakes are still working (never mind that they can fail anytime in future). |

Finally, GM has fixed AC in my Spark, but I'm still not as happy with AC performance as I am with my 8 year old Maruti 800 AC.
Latest update is that dashboard has started making weird noises in bad roads. Have driven just 7100 KM so far. |
