Luxury sedans,
Volvo is upgrading their engine line-up for the 2013 models. The upcoming models of the Volvo S60 and S80 sedans will get a new 5-cylinder diesel engine. The new engine is expected to debut next year. Along with the two sedans , the new diesel engine will also power the V60 and V70 estates.
The 2.0 litre 5-cylinder oil burner pumps out 140 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. The new engine is a but under-powered than the current entry-level diesel that Volvo offers in its India. The Volvo
S60 D3 uses a similar 5-cylinder diesel engine that produces 163 bhp and 50 torques more than the upcoming engine. Finally , Volvo has also upgraded the active features that adorn the car. Until now , we’ve seen active headlights that turn themselves on without driver interference.
Now , Volvo has gone a step further and will offer active high-beams on the new 2013 Volvo models. The gear selector knob gets new illumination while the company will introduce road-sign recognition to the package. This system scans the road for sign boards and displays them on the instrument cluster.
One of the most awaited car of the year has finally been launched. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV is here and it can be yours for an introductory price of Rs 5.89 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi for the base petrol variant. The Ertiga was first showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and since then has been creating a lot of buzz in the market. This is Maruti Suzuki's first diesel MPV which was expected to give a tough fight to various other MPVs that are already in the market.
Now , this segment of the market is being dominated by diesel powered products and hence , Maruti Suzuki is offering the Ertiga with a 1.3 litre Multijet as well as a 1.4 litre K-Series petrol engine. The new petrol engine churns out 94 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. On the other hand , the famous 1.3 litre Multijet is able to produce 90 bhp of peak power as well as 200 torques. Like the K-Series petrol engine , the 1.3 Multijet has proved its worth in the SX4 diesel. The same engine , with the same tune as that of the SX4 powers the Ertiga. Maruti has mated the engines with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The car is available in 7-seater configuration. Maruti is targeting the customer who wants more space along with better mileage and low running costs which has been a distinguishing characteristic of Maruti Suzuki products. India is the first market in the world where the Ertiga has been launched. The car maker plans to launch the car in Thailand later on in the year following which expect the Ertiga to be exported to other south east Asian countries.

The Volkswagen Group India today carried out ground-breaking ceremony for its first Regional Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) in Gurgaon. The distribution centre in being constructed under the ‘Depot Network Development Project’ , which will serve the entire Northern region for the Genuine Parts Sales for the Volkswagen Group in India. The ceremony was held at the strategic location , next to the planned Kundli-Manesar-Palwal corridor in presence of Mr. Maik Stephan , Managing Director , VW Group Sales India Private Limited and Mr. Dietmar Hildebrandt , Director Group Service , VW Group Sales India Private Limited.
The Northern region accounts for 35-40 per cent of parts in India. Volkswagen Group which represents three brands in India; Volkswagen , Skoda and Audi , plans to set up four such depots across four region in India. Greater Mumbai depot will follow the Northern Depot to cater the demand of western region , Banglore and Kolkata depots will be constructed afterwards for the southern and western regions respectively.
Mr. Maik Stephan said , “A Strong After Sales Service is the backbone of an efficient dealer network. Therefore , the Volkswagen Group India is continuously strengthening its After Sales Services where we are using synergies for the operations of our brands - Audi , ŠKODA and Volkswagen in India. With the new Regional Parts Distribution Centre , we will further strengthen the efficiency of our After Sales and the service quality for our customers.”
Mr. Dietmar Hildebrandt said , “The Regional Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) will deliver most of the Genuine Parts demand within 24 hours to the Volkswagen Group brands dealer network in the Northern region with focus on customer satisfaction. We have just ‘raised the bar’ for the passenger car industry and set a trend for the After Sales Services market in India. The PDC is expected to start operations by end of 2012.”

The quarter liter competition is set to become more aggressive with the third entrant with 250cc displacement from Hyosung. Garware Motors , the partner of S&T Motors , South Korea in India is all set to bring the new bike this year.
The official press from Garware Motors said , the new bike will be sold along with the three bikes that are already present in India. Currently the Korean manufacturer is present with their cruiser ST7 Royale , GT 650R and GT 650N models in India with 16 dealerships across India.
Garware sensed the rise of demand for performance bikes in India and decided to bring the GT250R to India. The bike is powered by 250cc V-Twin engine which mills out a maximum of 26.27 bhp @ 10 , 000 rpm and 21.04Nm of torque @ 6750 rpm.
At the moment , Indian biking enthusiasts can choose between the single cylinder CBR250R and parallel twin Ninja 250R which has a huge price difference between the two , Hyosung is expected to fill that gap and price its machine competitively.
